Turkish Universities are divided into two groups that require or do not require ALES scores in master’s and doctoral registrations.
What is ALES?
It is an exam to start a master’s degree or to become a postgraduate academician.
Who attends ALES?
1) Those who want to be invited as academic staff in universities: Titles are academicians, tutors, researchers, translators and education and learning planners.
2) he graduated from a university anywhere in the world, who will graduate and doctorate in Turkey.
3) Turkish citizens who plan to go abroad, to have master’s and doctorate degrees under the sponsorship of the Turkish state.
ALES ÖSYM (Turkey SSAC) is held twice a year by the months of November and March. In addition, Turkish Universities accept master’s and doctoral degrees twice a year.
ÖSYM in 2013. According to the information given about the ales ales, Turkey, Nicosia (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) and Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) will be held. Those living outside these three countries need to come to Turkey for ALES.
ALES is valid for 3 years. So a question may arise:
– “I took the ALES exam several times, do I have to apply to universities with my last ALES score?”
– “No, you don’t have to. You can apply to the university for master’s and doctorate degrees with any of the 3-year-valid points you have.”
ALES consists of two parts: mathematical and linguistic parts. There are 4 sections in ALES, namely Mathematics-1, Mathematics-2, Linguistics-1 and Linguistics-2 and each consists of 50 questions, that is, there are 200 questions in total. These questions are distributed in the same booklet before the exam. ALES duration is 180 minutes (3 hours). 4 wrong questions remove 1 right question.
Your ALES score is evaluated in 3 different ways. Results are announced on the OSYM website. These ways are:
1) Equal Weighted (for all departments of Economics and Administrative Sciences and for master’s / doctorate programs in some specialties of Education faculties)
2) Mathematical (for master’s / doctoral programs in departments with more mathematical subjects such as Engineering, Architecture and Science)
3) Linguistics (for master’s / doctoral programs in departments with more humanitarian subjects such as Literature, Law, Language-History-Geography)
ALES Score and Admission Rules of Universities
YÖK (Higher Education Council of Turkey based) criteria, universities senators are considering graduate and doctoral students ALES their application, but the effect of ales evaluation criteria must not be less than 50%. In other words, your high ALES score may not be enough to be accepted. Such criteria such as your interview and your GPA play very important roles.
Some Turkish universities accept students with international GRE or GMAT certificates instead of ALES.
Turkish universities are divided into two as those that require an ALES score for the admission of international students and those that do not require an ALES score. In addition, some universities require ALES scores from international students for application and do not require any score limitation.
According to the decision of the senators of the universities, the application limit criteria for ALES score vary from year to year. For example, a university that wanted ALES score last year may not request ALES score this year.
